We're currently supporting both the full server install for sqlite and a minimal server install. Keeping both of these in sync requires a bunch of effort and I'm curious if there's any value to it.

So, I figured I'd pose the question here: if you're using the sqlite version, what configs have you adjusted that would prevent you from using the minimal server? Is lack of a non-command-line user creating mode a problem that we would need to address.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Regards,
Toby

Hello,

being new to this group, I assume by minimal server, you are referig
to
http://tobyelliott.wordpress.com/2009/09/11/weave-minimal-server/.
We are using this server in a small home lan for a few users quite
happily.
The only change I did, was logging the calls to index.php via an
include_once
call to a separate php file, to a separate log file.
Creating the users via command line is not a problem, as I know who
wants to connect.

The only concern is to be unsure if the not-so-official minimal server
works with
every addon version increment. Worst case would be to lose all
bookmarks or saved
passwords for the users. Most are not aware of the local saved json
bookmark files.

regards,
fred

The minimal server is 'official' and (with a couple irrelevant exceptions) implements the full Weave Sync 1.0 API, so until we release a version not compatible with that, it should be fine.

We have no plans to release an API-incompatible client, but when the day comes that we do, there'll definitely be a minimal server update.
