Hi all,

I am really sorry about the confusion on idle time from the recent "A Week in the Life of a Browser" study.  It seems we have more than one bug in that metrics.

Jono, our lead developer, is trying his best to fix that. So far we have some assumptions on how to fix them, as well some indicators on how to filter messed-up data (thank you for your hints and suggestions). If we are not able to clean them up, we will throw away "idle time" data that was submitted before all bugs were fixed.

Since "A Week in the Life of a Browser" study is a periodical study, Jono and I will keep improving the metrics for the next round, which will be 60 days after you started this study. Please let us know if you have any suggestions on how to make it better!

Sorry about the idle time again, and thank you for helping us figuring out ways to fix it!

is blank... also it's been less then 60 days since the last time i
submitted...

perhaps there are other errors?

Copying my comment from the initial thread in the hopes it adds to the
discussion:
"I was just asked to submit data today and was socked
to know that I've been running Minefield non-stop for 200+ hours.
I do leave the computer running overnight most of the times (sorry on
melting our polar ice but it's just to slow to start) but I'm
certainly not using it actively all that time.
IMHO "active" should be Firefox is the top-most window and there are
key presses or the mouse is either moving on it's window or at least
on top of it."
