I've been reading with some annoyance all the emails about lost shares
of Firefox as opposed to other browsers.
It makes sense when a new browser Ala-Chrome is put out by such a huge
corporation that things will go south for a while. Most of the people
who are complaining are not using the latest versions of Firefox which
is perplexing as we are supposed to be testing and letting Mozilla
know what has gone wrong. If you had tried Firefox and Thunderbird
9.01 you would see a large increase in time to load and performance of
Firefox. They have stripped some code in favor of speed and made a
stable and useful browser that I, for one, find superior to Chrome,
IE, and Opera. The only other browser I use other than Firefox is
Dolphin HD for my G tablet. Since G Tablet is not running a beta ROM
of Honeycomb 3.01 it is slick, fast and up there with any other Pad on
the market. As I do not use an Ipad I cannot say but Android and
Dolphin go together well.
Having said that I still use the beta Firefox and frankly it is faster
than Dolphin but use Dolphin because of the swiping. Faster than
anything.
All and all I see no worries about Firefox losing some users because
of trying out other products. I do the same thing to compare my
Firefox to other products but that does not call for such over the top
death calls.
If you like Firefox and you want to improve it than use the page for
explanation of issues and concentrate on fixes. Try the newer versions
too, can't hurt.
