Sidebar API

Hi,

I was wondering if there was any update on progress adding a sidebar to the Add-on SDK?  The last estimate that I can find is Irakli Gozalishvili said in mid-2011 that he expected it to be done within a year.

Yeah, sure. The idea of sidebars was originally introduced with these
mock-ups, early last year:

We decided to move ahead with this work in Q2 of this year, once we
land the existing SDK apis in Firefox. We are going to the ship the
feature in Firefox, and in chunks, and we likely won't get to the
sidebar api at first. We've broken how we're approaching this in the
2013 Quarterly goals page:

I personally think that providing these UI apis is extremely important
with the goal being to provide reliable UI hooks in Firefox's UI to
add-on authors. I also think it was the right decision to delay the
work until after we land in Firefox;; I also think that the ritlace
for this work is *in* Firefox as opposed to in a separate SDK.

Just wanted to check in on this since we're now in Q2. Is the plan still to develop the sidebar during Q2 or will it be coming a bit later?

That is the plan, you may want to see the Sidebar JEP if you have an interest in the api design.

Bug 787395 is for the implementation.
