The Phonebook API

Hey All,

So, we landed an API on the Phonebook back on the 6/21 release. After a lot of internal feedback, we've found a few issues:

• Offering an API key to Vouched Mozillian volunteers and/or paid staff creates a potential liability in mis-use
• Site operators come-and-go from the project and so an API used for a site/product tied strictly to a Vouched Mozilla e-mail can lead to too much churn when there isn't one necessary

I'll reiterate here the needs for the Phonebook currently (which have not changed):

1. To allow site operators to give greater access to their sites to Vouched Mozillians (i.e. contributors)
2. To make it easier for contributors to auto-populate profiles on other mozilla.org properties with the information that's already been inputted onto Mozillians.org.
