I've been running Arch on this laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad S340) for a little under a year now, with no real issues, dual booting with Windows using two partitions of the same disk. A couple days ago I started having this issue where rebooting the computer would cause it to boot immediately into Windows, instead of into the GRUB selection menu. Going into the EFI boot menu reveals that the GRUB option just... isn't there, only Windows remains. A friend guided me through the process of reinstalling GRUB by booting into an Arch install USB stick, which seemed to fix the problem... except after rebooting, the option was gone again, and I booted into Windows.

keygen keeps getting deleted

* The first time it happened, the system actually crashed, but that hasn't happened since. I was using Arch normally (in the middle of a game, but I don't think it matters) when the system froze and I got a message saying something like "no bootable device found" (unfortunately I couldn't get a picture of it before it disapperared). This hasn't happened since, and I haven't been able to reproduce it. I don't think I've made any recent changes beyond just a full Pacman upgrade.
* The problem is inconsistent. Sometimes I can reboot the computer several times and GRUB is still there. Sometimes it has disappeared. Sometimes, not even installing GRUB fixes it, and I have to go through the process several times and hope one works.
* I doubt this problem is related to Windows at all. The crash happened while I was on Arch, and the entry gets deleted even when I don't boot into Windows in the first place.
* The files in the /efi partition seem to be intact. I can mount it and look at them and the GRUB directory is in there. It's the entry in the boot menu that disappears. I saw a note on the wiki saying that by passing --removable into grub-install you can boot from the drive in case EFI variables are reset, but this doesn't seem to have done anything.

What a weird problem! It seems like the EFI variables must be getting at least partially reset somehow, since the GRUB entry in the boot menu is disappearing altogether, and it seems like it's somehow happening before any boot loader even launches, since it sometimes happens even on the first power-on after you've repaired it.

Since the content of the EFI partition is apparently intact, I think you were on the right track with using --removable. You can boot Windows from GRUB, right? If you overwrite the Windows boot loader and put GRUB in its location, it will hopefully launch even after whatever is happening to your EFI variables happens. You should be able to find its path (starting with \EFI\) in the output of `efibootmgr -v`

I'm not the most knowledgeable about this stuff, so this solution might be nonsense to someone who is, but if you back up whatever you overwrite, you should be able to reverse your changes if it goes wrong.

Its a known problem with some BIOS roms (i'm affected as well). The real culprit is Windows though that forcefully wants it's nvram entry on top position (#1). Otherwise it deletes grub. Its doing that when you boot up Windows. The workaround is to let it do so, disable(!) it (set inactive with efibootmgr) and place grub below.

I seem to have fixed it now. What I did was go into the UEFI shell and create an entry for GRUB manually with the help of this page on the wiki. I have no clue why the entry created by grub-install was getting deleted and this one is not, but I waited a day to make sure and it still seems to work, so... yeah.

If it stops working for whatever reason, I'll try what the post above suggests (I don't think it's that because it happened even when I never booted into Windows, but it's worth a shot). Thank you for the help!

Whenever I restart my computer, RStudio gets deleted entirely from my laptop. I have to download it again in order to use it. Once I download it, I have no issues using it. Why does the application keep getting deleted? My .rmd files remain on my computer after I restart.

RStudio has to be in your Applications folder; if you downloaded it to some other location, you will have to set a path variable. Next time you try, you should see the RStudio app icon and the Applications folder icon. Just drag RStudio into the App folder and I think you'll be fine.

It started about 2 months ago: Suddenly all my private playlists were gone. But I was able to recover them all and thought I accidentally deleted them. But now the same thing happened for the third time. I can restore the playlists, but I'm afraid of losing them forever.

Thanks for reaching out. Do the playlists disappear on all devices or only on some? And do they always end up in deleted playlists? If so, consider securing your account as shown here. If the playlists disappear on some devices but not others, consider performing a clean reinstall there.

Thanks for your answer. My playlists disappear on all devices and end up in deleted playlists. Fortunately i'm able to recover them in the account settings. I don't think someone has taken over my account. Except for the deleted playlists, nothing is suspicious.

Since your playlists end up in Deleted Playlists, most likely they're being deleted from the account itself, so it's a good idea to log out from all devices and change your password, to make sure that you're the only one who has access to your account.

If this keeps happening though, check your Account Page > Apps and remove access for any service that you're not sure about. Sometimes third party apps might add songs to your account, so it's also possible that an app is doing this.

And what about playlist getting deleted/removed from my account. I mean if I login from my other account on different device and want to play same playlist I made from my first account. Even tho I played from that playlist before but now it says "couldn't find that playlist". I checked my main Account in which I made my playlist. And it's still there. On public and also added to profile. But I can't see it on my other accounts. Even my friends also couldn't find it. And it keeps happening with my Playlists frequently. And i checked on my account on recover playlist section. It's not even there. Tell me what should I do

I keep getting this issue. Every single time i install BitTorent, after a PC restart the program gets deleted. I use ESET NOD 32 and it keeps detecting potentially unwanted a application when i install BT, but even if i disable that it still deletes BT after install and PC restart.

It was a program called Wise Disk Cleaner that i use to clean pc of different stuff, and for some reason it deleted BT. I deleted it,switched to similar software to clean my pc and BT works like a charm. Thank you all for your support. Can close the thread

Hello, has anyone encountered AuthPoint token repeatedly getting deleted? A particular user has had their only token go missing every couple of days or so, and needs a new token reissued every time it occurs.

That said, have you tried fully deleting the user and then resending an invite from scratch that way? If that doesn't work I'd try activating the MFA on another phone (like my own) for a little while to see if my phone deletes the token still, as that could tell is if the issue is with phone or AuthPoint handling software tokens on the user.

Hello @ahmadfadil
If you're running into this issue, please open a support case using the support center link on the top right of the page. Support can help collect more data and see what might be causing this issue.

The wp-config.php file keeps on getting deleted. Before this started to happen, extra characters would automatically appear in my database username and password which would take my website down, I'd then notice this and delete those characters - then my site would appear back up. This same cycle happened consecutively before it moved on to deleting the wp-config file.

I am not exactly sure what is causing this deletion of the wp-config.php file, but I have restored it on numerous occasions, changed the database information several times and changed my credentials on both Cpanel and Wordpress; however, the problem still seems to persist. My website is currently down as I am writing this post --> Picture 1 is the current state of my website, and Picture 2 is the frequent error that I have been getting.

Every few weeks, when I go to type something, I find that the Swype dictionary has been deleted (or at least can't be accessed) for no apparent reason. This kills the 2 benefits of Swype: typing without lifting your finger, and predictive word completion (and correction). Without these 2 features, Swype becomes much harder to use, and I find I'm better off with the standard keyboard.

So I was facing the same issue as well, and after getting no help from internet and forums, I contacted swype, here is the reply I received from them. I have not tried it yet, but I expect it to work.

I'm not sure, but I think that when the SD card is mounted by a computer through USB the phone can't access it. I'd hazard a guess that you used the keyboard while you were plugged into the USB and swype couldn't get at it's dictionary so it started a new one which was saved to SD once USB was unplugged.

Are you using any memory management programs? Any app2sd, battery savers, task killers, etc. -- basically anything that might cause an irregularity? If so, I suggest turning them all of for a few weeks, see if that makes any difference.

I have a HTC one M7. It decided to reboot after getting confused on how much battery power it had.Now the personised Swype dictionary is gone. I tried Swype's workaround listed above, but no success. There is no footprint of my old dictionary. However I have found that it's easy to back up my new personal dictionary. In: Settings> Language & Keyboard> HTC Sense Input> Personal Dictionary> then go to tip right ':' Backup to Email. It will then save your dictionary as an attachment on email, which u can download & it will automatically recognise it upon opening & install it for you.How this will save people from the troubles I've had.
