Ihave been using Lightroom since version 1.0. I am up to date with my updates on the current classic CC. It has been running so slow for the last several months it is bordering on totally unusable. When I open it takes minutes to load. Every click on the import process, from import, to selecting the drive, to selecting the folder (both for cards and already-uploaded on RAID on USB-C connection), takes 3-6 minutes. I often get the whited out scren and Lightroom is not responding message before it comes back again.

I am running it on a I7-3770k processor, Nvidia GXO1060,, 32GB RAM, with the catalog on its own SSD. I start the new year with new catalogs for my commercial and news photography, so the catalog have hardly any photos in them. The photos are from a D4 and D810. I regularly optimize the catalog. I do not have an enormous number of presents.. I've done nearly every step on the optimization web page. Help????

Please post your own discussion. When you do, be specific as to issues you are having, and include in your post, the LrC version, your PC OS version, CPU specs, Amount of RAM, GPU make/model, Amount of GPU VRAM, GPU driver version, etc.

That indicates that your catalog is on OneDrive, on the cloud. The LrC catalog must not be on the cloud. Adobe does not support that. Adobe does not support placing the catalog on any form of network share, be that an actual server, a NAS, or the cloud. Some make this work, but performance takes a hit, and eventually the catalog gets corrupted or at a minimum fails. The catalog is a SQLite database that does not work well over a network share.

Thanks but it is actually on the local SSD but wrong name. I can change that but that is not the issus since was working fine for almost 2 years, all before a recent update! Now I do not use my Lr and got back to LrC because of all the stalling and slow working.

Noticed in the folders containing photos some JPEG files not imported, and could not be imported. They had odd name structure ._whatever.jpeg (yep very odd, I think I remember that leading dot). Deleated them, bsng, LRC catalog working again. Oh, and yes, these matched proper photos similarly named without the improper characters.

I'm still having the same slowness issue on my Mac, to the point I'm very close to ending my monthly payment. Latest Lightroom classic 9.2.1 is memeory hungry and when using brush tools etc its forgetting the edits I've made, and as for exporting its a joke

I turned on LR CC tonight, and it's dog slow. I don't understand what happened. 3 nights ago, I did an import, edited an image, things were fine. Tonight I open it up, and I mean 20 minutes to import 20 images. It's unbelievable. I have as much power and memory as anything could have, I just bought a full-on editing machine a few months ago. Specs below:

System Information, as Lightroom Classic reports it. In Lightroom Classic, click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that info into your posting. Include all info from first line down to and including plugin info.

The problem was eventually solved by removing ALL GPU drivers and just doing a Windows Update and allowing Windows to install default Microsoft Drivers for AMD Radeon AND nVidia GTX1650 and all is suddenly running perfectly! It would seem Lightroom is not compatible with the latest driver set!

I updated to latest drivers from AMD and nVidia and again system slowed down to a crawl when Lightroom was open. I uninstalled ALL drivers from AMD and nVidia and re-installed default Microsoft drivers via Windows update and all works perfectly!

Just an UPDATE as at 18 January 2024:

I resolved my issues with this machine by rebuilding it as a Windows 10 Machine and re-installed all latest drivers in early May 2023 and performance returned to normal with absolutely no issues. When I got a newer machine 2 weeks ago (AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS, 32Gb mem, 4Tb NVME, RTX 4060 and all is OK on it) I decided to try Windows 11 again. I did a CLEAN build of Windows 11 and reinstalled everything and from the moment I tried using Lightroom CC is slowed do

This was done and had no effect. The GPU was set to use only nVidia GTX 1650 and still the system was VERY slow. System on old version 512.78 is stable and runs very fast. Lightroom does not like the new drivers on Windows 11.

After updating Lightroom Classic to the new 12.3 version I also tried the latest nVidia Studio Drivers version 531.61 (04/13/2023) and again Lightroom slowed down in ALL operations (even just starting up). While Lightroom is open the entire PC even slows down and experiences serios lags.

To resolve I downgraded the nVidia drivers to version 516.94 which is most stable and system is normal and fast. Why would Lightroom Slow doen on the latest GPU drivers for nVidia (everything else runs normal, just Lightroom slows down and drag entire system with it. Closing Lightroom returns system to normal.

Lightroom does not like the latest nVidia Drivers.

LR uses the graphics processor diffently from other apps, and it often trigger bugs in the graphics drivers, of which there are many. For example, version 531.41 explicitly mentions stability issues with Adobe apps, acknowledging that recent driver versions were causing problems for them:

You did not read all the information. I understand 531.18 had issues but updating to 531.41 and then again later to 531.61 did not solve the problem. It would appear Adobe is incompatible with the 531.xx driver set in its entirety which is why I downgraded to version 516.94

How is it possible that the problem still exists and that Adobe keeps stating that you should upgrade to the latest GPU driver version when the latest driver version does not fix the problem (for 3 versions in a row)

I read all your information. You asked "Why would Lightroom Slow doen on the latest GPU drivers for nVidia", and I provided some more information in response. The evidence suggests that the latest releases of the Nvidia drivers have stability issues when used with LR. While it could be bugs in LR's use of the graphics drivers, it's at least as likely bugs in the drivers, especially considering that Nvidia has acknowledged such bugs in recent releases.

I did a CLEAN build of Windows 11 and reinstalled everything and from the moment I tried using Lightroom CC is slowed down to a CRAWL trying to do anything from even just browsing images to basic editing. It seems this specific configuration on this oldder laptop is not compatible with Adobe Lightroom CC: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H, 32Gb mem, GTX 1650, 2Tb SSD.

I'm having an identical issue. I accidentally clicked the wrong button and upgraded my computer to Windows 11 from Windows 10. Ever since I did that, Lightroom 7.2 does not work, and Photoshop 25.5.0.375 is also not working. Wants me to disable GPU or something to that effect, and Lightroom and Photo shop worked perfectly when I had Windows 10. I have other software that I run on this computer that I fear becoming incompatible if I change any of my drivers. I'm not sure how to fix this but I either need to fix this or cancel my subscription with Adobe.

I was struggling with very laggy LrC for weeks, adjusting sliders take some seconds for it to response and it was extremely frustrating! I tried many suggestions found online but nothing work. Today, I reset Windows 11, removed all the apps including all Adobe apps and reinstalled LrC and PS. And it is working fine now. Hope this will help those looking for solution.

And mmmmm hmmm hunny IT IS AMAZING. Perfect for Sunday night dinners, impressing your partner, serving with cornbread or a slice of toasted French bread, and warming up during those cold winter nights. Trust me when I say: you need it!

I would love to try this however I do not have a slow cooker. If I do it in the oven with a Le Creuset how should I adjust my cooking time and what temperature should I cook at? Or is it better on the stove top?

Loved this recipe, thank you! I made it for my husband and I for Easter, and we could not have been happier with the results. Ended up eating it a bit earlier than 7 hours on low but was perfectly juicy. Will definitely make again!

Wow, this recipe is a keeper!! We hosted some friends for dinner last night, and I wanted to make some hearty comfort food to celebrate the first week of fall. I followed this recipe exactly, and it was SO delicious!! I paired the dish with corn bread muffins. Our friends raved about how good it was and even asked for the recipe. We will definitely be making this again this fall and winter. Thank you!

I know this is not orthodox cooking wisdom but I never fry my beef cubes before making stew and I find my stew is still delicious. It saves time, pans and significantly decreases the oil. Otherwise made as is. Great!

Instead of a traditional Thanksgiving meal, we made this recipe and it hit the spot! It was easy to put together, SO flavorful, satisfying, and delicious. We will definitely make this again sometime soon! Thank you and Happy Holidays!

I made this recipe as written and it is a very good beef stew. I used the red wine and it gives it a nice rounded flavor. The couple issues I experienced were the prep took me around an hour and I cooked it for just under 8 hours and the vegetables could have used another 30-60 minutes but the meat was very tender. I will make it again and increase the cooking time. Thanks for this hearty recipe that was comfort food on a snowy night.

Made this for the 2nd time last night! It is SO delicious. A total crowd pleaser. I love the flavor and how tender the meat is. I used wine once and left it out another time. Tasted great both ways. Thanks Monique!!
