***½ THE SHINING (US 1980) C24, 2310-0140; Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall; Difficult to know, but it's possible that ITV are showing the longer U.S. print of Stanley Kubrick's film of Stephen King's novel (they have done before). Both the U.K. and U.S. versions have their moments, but the former loses most of the explanatory bits and the whole of Anne Jackson's part (and almost Danny Lloyd's title gift entirely).
