Call for Workshop Participation and Posters: ICRA workshop on "Pulling the Strings on Creative Collaborations: A retrospective on Puppetry, Choreography and Control"

Dear colleagues,


We are pleased to announce the full day workshop on “Pulling the Strings on Creative Collaborations: A retrospective on Puppetry, Choreography and Control” to take place on Friday 23 May 2025 at ICRA in Atlanta, Georgia.


Topics of interest include:


* creative approaches to dynamics, control, and motion planning for robots

* modeling complex motion for dynamic systems

* animating expressive movement and behavior

* dance, puppetry, somatics and other movement-centered practices in robotics

* movement notation for robots

* aesthetics and movement

* interdisciplinary collaboration with artists

* artistic approaches in research


We welcome researchers at all career stages from diverse backgrounds to participate in the workshop, which will include invited keynotes by:


Prof. Magnus Egerstedt - UC Irvine


Prof. Todd Murphey - Northwestern University


We are pleased to offer a Hands-On workshop led by puppeteer


Jason Hines - Artistic Director of Atlanta’s Center for Puppetry Arts


Panel discussion with invited speakers:

Prof Gil Weinberg - Georgia Institute of Technology

Prof Laurel Riek - UCSD

Prof Wendy Ju - Cornell Tech
