The candidate is expected to contribute to the continued development of the Department’s world-class research into rhythm, timing, and groove at the crossroads of popular music, ethnomusicology, and music perception and cognition. The candidate is also expected to contribute to the department’s teaching and supervision responsibilities in rhythm, groove, and related music traditions at all levels. Additional teaching activities may include music production topics and/or rhythm and well-being. The candidate’s research activities should be focused on rhythm and timing in groove-related music.
The Department of Musicology is one of the largest music research institutions in Europe. Its staff conducts research in a wide range of areas, including music history, analysis, cognition, and technology, jazz and popular music, the cultural study of music, and music and media. It is home to RITMO Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rhythm, Time, and Motion and has excellent research infrastructure, including the world leading fourMs Lab. We are looking for a candidate to strengthen the Department’s research profile and contribute to research-led teaching and supervision.
