Betraying Progressives, DNC Platform Backs Fracking, TPP, and Israel OccupationExcerpt: "In a
statement,
Sanders said he was 'disappointed and dismayed' that representatives of
Hillary Clinton and DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schulz rejected the
proposal on trade put forth by Sanders appointee Rep. Keith Ellison
(D-Minn.), despite the fact that the presumed nominee has herself
come out against the 12-nation deal.
'Inexplicable' was how Sanders described the move, adding: 'It is
hard for me to understand why Secretary Clinton’s delegates won’t stand
behind Secretary Clinton’s positions in the party’s platform.'
The
panel also rejected amendments suggested by
350.org co-founder Bill
McKibben, another Sanders pick, that would have imposed a carbon tax,
declared a national moratorium on fracking as well as new fossil fuel
drilling leases on federal lands and waters."

Strategic
voting recommendation: Since CA is such a dependably blue state (*not* a
swing state), I recommend voting Jill Stein, Greens. This does two
things: 1. Reminds the corporate Democrats they are not getting your
support for such a supine agenda. ...and... 2. Potentially gets more
funding for the Greens (matching funds).
For those of you
worried "...b..but my vote won't prevent Trump!"... Your vote wouldn't
do that anyway. We vote for electors for the electoral college. The odds
California will go to the Republicans are tiny, even with a third party
costing D's votes. So it's not likely your vote will change the Supreme
Court, but it will do those two things above.
Elsewhere: "Sanders said he was pleased that the platform drafters adopted language
calling for breaking up too-big-to-fail banks and enacting a modern-day
Glass-Steagall Act. Sanders also said he appreciated a unanimous vote
for a proposal to abolish the death penalty."
Finally, if you
haven't heard it, Hillary condemned Trump for suggesting the government
could buy back its "debt" at a discount (
Hillary Clinton Criticizes Donald Trump for One of the Few Things He Is Right About), saying it would cause Weimar- or Zimbabwe-type hyperinflation. I've discussed this
elsewhere, at length. Executive summary: Hillary is full of it.
