WEBINAR: Mountain Bike Guidelines Update

Friday 26 May 2023 @12.30 pm

Do you manage land used for mountain biking, build trails, run mountain bike operations or are you a passionate rider?

Join this webinar to hear from collaborators of the updated mountain bike trail design and construction guidelines from Recreation Aotearoa. The updated guidelines are intended to help all parties develop and clarify their understanding of the creative elements that go into delivering a fun trail experience at each of the six grades of difficulty.

Katie Owen (Recreation Aotearoa) will be joined by Simon Alefosio Tuck (Rotorua Lakes Council, Chris Mildon (Tasman Trails ), and James Littlejohn (#AdaptMTB) to discuss the key points from the Guidelines. This revision, released in February 2023, has built on the 2018 guide with adaptive and electric mountain biking being two of the major inclusions to these guidelines. Also included are helpful diagrams to illustrate trail features and design. We recommend watching this episode of Attitude live featuring James before the webinar to learn more about adaptive mountain biking.

Join the webinar to
- Learn more about the mountain bike trail design and construction guidelines and who they are for
- Examine the updated version and become familiar with new inclusions and amendments
- Develop your thinking about how trails can be designed to be inclusive

It is free to register, and if you can't make the session, register anyway and we will send you a link to the final recording.
