MTBNO - Membership 2022/23 (financial year from 1st April – March 31st)

It’s that time again and our membership year starts now!
We’ve not been slacking this year and the Herbert Forest crew have been very busy. There are new tracks for most abilities, including Oh Deer (advanced), Macro Scarpa an uphill/downhill track, Tombstone, and for the adventurous Moose Creek.
The challenging season has made weed control difficult and we’ve been spraying to keep tacks clear. We have organised working bees for Tuesday’s, but daylight savings has drawn those to a close.
We have a great relationship with WDC who grant fund the trail maintenance on WDC reserves. This has freed the team up to developers trails and left maintenance with professional contractors who have done a great job. All mountain bikers benefit from this arrangement!
On the Cape we’ve been ringing the changes, to improve some exit lines to reduce risk to MTB res and other users. We’ve got a new track from the Lookout which separates users and provides a new climbing/downhill trail.
Our Chocolate Fish series has been boosted with an Autumn series, and we can look forward to a Winter series in due course. Under 12 numbers have increased this year and the groms have enjoyed racing form Papakaio to Herbert Forest and points between. Support and involvement has been tremendous in spite of the Covid environment.
To run all this we have a really hard working team on the committee, all volunteers. The team manages the resource for the benefit of all Mtbers in the District and from further afield.
How can you help? Please join the club! We have family memberships and your support makes a difference.
Join us at a working bee, come ride with us, we have regular club rides, all posted on Facebook.
Your continued support is much appreciated!
