As you may know, Baltimore is in the final stages of crafting a plan that will help the city meet state and federal mandates to clean-up the polluted water that is poisoning local rivers and the Baltimore Harbor: stormwater runoff.

I urge you to send an e-mail to Mayor Rawlings-Blake and the Baltimore City Council supporting an equitable fee that includes credits and incentives to reduce costs for businesses and homeowners but still limits the amount of contaminated runoff that is such a big problem for Baltimore waterways.

Tomorrow, June 4, the Baltimore City Council will hold a work session on a bill that will determine the fee structure. Please send a message to the council and the mayor and tell them you want a fair and equitable stormwater fee.

If you're interested in attending the work session tomorrow, here are the details:

When: 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 4
Where: Judiciary and Legislative Investigations Committee, Du Burns Council Chamber, 4th floor, City Hall

Progress is being made to clean our waters and the Bay but if we don't address the massive amounts of trash and pollution that run off our streets every time it rains, we will never succeed in restoring Baltimore's rivers, Harbor, and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay.

Please act on this today. Every voice is important.

Thank you,

Terry Cummings
