Subject: Baltimore under water? Fight back November 19
Double Maryland's commitment to carbon-free electricity.
This newly launched campaign is our biggest clean energy fight yet in Maryland, and Baltimore activists will be critical to winning it.
Baltimore’s harbor is at the heart of our identity as a city. From the flashing Domino’s sign and National Aquarium to the cobble stone streets of Fell’s point, our harbor and the Chesapeake Bay are at the center of Charm City.
But this strength and source of pride is also a weakness -- Baltimore is one of the most vulnerable cities along the East Coast to sea level rise.2 With runaway climate change, we will see more flooding and severe storms in Maryland, and in a not-so-distant future, these local landmarks could be under water...unless we act now.
With our homes at risk from rising sea levels, it’s time to dramatically step up our fight for solutions -- no matter who is our governor. Let's double Maryland's commitment to clean electricity sources such as wind and solar -- to 40% by 2025.Here are the details:
WHAT: Baltimore kick-off meeting, launching our work to pass legislation in 2015 to double Maryland's goals for wind- and solar-powered electricity.
WHEN: Wednesday, November 19th from 6pm - 7:30pm.
WHERE: St. Mary's Church, 3900 Roland Ave, Baltimore, MD.
