Dear Chris,
The Boulder-White Clouds of central Idaho represent part of the largest unprotected landscape in the lower 48. For more than a decade, Idahoans have worked to protect this spectacular region. However, due to congressional gridlock, these efforts have failed.
Take action to protect the Boulder-White Clouds right now - add your name to the petition!
You may have traveled there yourself or heard about the Boulder-White Clouds from a friend. Located in the heart of Idaho, this region represents a special place for Idahoans and for our environment. The Boulder-White Clouds are characterized by the headwaters of four major rivers and critical alpine habitat, with 150 mountains over 10,000 feet. The abundance of habitat and winter range creates a santuary for elusive and threatened species, like the wolverine, Canada lynx, fisher, bull trout, and Chinook salmon. It's also home to plants found nowhere else on earth!
Rugged stories are imbedded in the many relics of bustling mining towns that once existed throughout the region. Native American tribes relied on the fertile hunting and fishing grounds of the eastern rain-shadowed landscape of the Boulder-White Clouds.
Because of the pristine, wild country and fascinating history, these mountains are treasured as one of Idaho's premier backcountry recreational destinations. A national monument would protect this valued landscape for generations to come.
Help protect the Boulder-White Clouds. Join over 1000 Idahoans who already added their name to the petition!
Sincerely,
Martin Balben CVI Conservation Associate |
