That's a very compelling animation. 

Many warming skeptics point to the 1920s through 1940s as being a very warm period that casts doubt about how unusual the warming of the past decade plus has been.  Try pausing the animation during any warm year during that period and compare it to the end of the loop in 2012.  

Here's a nice summary of the off-the-charts ice melt going on in the arctic this summer.

yes, based on the graph, we could see no artic ice in the next couple of years.
