Referral Bonuses Increased to $5000 (U.S.D) For Field Sales and Engineering
As CEO Jesper Andersen mentioned at the recent All Hands meeting, Infoblox is hiring and has a lot of openings in the Sales and Engineering areas. Infoblox
has always valued and rewarded employees for their referrals, as they have been a great source of new hires. In an effort to fill these openings, the employee referral bonus for these positions is being raised to $5,000 (U.S. dollars) through December 31.
The increased bonus applies to field sales hires, including Major, Named, Channel, and Territory Account Managers, as well as Sales Engineers. It also applies to experienced software engineers. (Bonuses will be paid in local currencies, and the value may vary
by country. Bonuses are paid 90 days after the employee starts. For more details, see the
Employee
Referral Guidelines.
Infoblox’s regular employee referral bonus program pays $2,000 to $4,000 (in the U.S. — amounts may vary for other countries) for a referral that results in a hire. All employees who submit a resume for an open position have their names put in a monthly drawing
for a GoPro, Apple Watch or similar item.
May’s monthly drawing winner: Mark Chrisp.
To be eligible for the referral bonuses and the monthly drawing, submit the candidate’s name via Jobvite. You can also use the Jobvite Publisher Application to automatically broadcast Infoblox’s job openings to your contacts on a variety of social media networks.
Directions for enabling Jobvite Publisher are posted here.

FY18 Product Goals Outlined at All Hands
One of the highlights of the Q3 All Hands meeting was an overview of Infoblox’s product plans for FY18 and beyond. Scott
Fulton shared the plans, and Dilip Pillaipakam and Padmini Kao offered product demos.
Highlights from the FY18 roadmap investment focus:
-
Lay the foundation for continued core DDI leadership: This includes investing in Engineering to ensure quality and responsiveness. The team will also embark on a NIOS replacement
program.
-
Fortify new beachheads in security: The goal is to close gaps on ActiveTrust Cloud to position the company to win the battle against OpenDNS in our installed base, as well as to
improve the stability and usability of ActiveTrust to enable upselling to ActiveTrust Plus/Advanced. The team will also work to broaden the security ecosystem as a key differentiator from competitors.
-
Capitalize on NFV (network function virtualization) and DPI refresh waves: This will include completing a multiphase program to virtualize PT appliance functions and DNS Cache
acceleration. We also deliver value-added services atop the DNS infrastructure through a new subscriber services offering.

Giving Your Way: Each Drop Makes a World of Difference
“There’s a saying in India: ‘Little drops of water make the mighty ocean,’” says Ashish Gupta, executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
He recently watched his 90-year-old father put that philosophy into action — starting with a small gesture that ended up creating a tsunami of kindness and giving from others to make a big difference.
As Infoblox implements the new Giving Your Way program to make charitable giving and matching gifts easier, it’s important to realize that any kind effort, regardless of time or size, makes a difference.
In April, Gupta’s father, NC, who is a retired career Indian military officer and now lives in the U.S., was watching an Indian television channel and saw a story about a teenage girl who was about to be forced into marriage because her parents could not afford
to send her to school anymore. The girl was distraught because she wanted to continue her education and support her community.
What transpired in the three days following this TV news story shows how the Internet, communication, and good intentions can address the most vexing situations. That same night, Gupta’s father contacted the television station and asked for the girl’s address
with the goal of providing support. He then reached out to his former military colleagues, asking some of them to visit the girl in her village to see what could be done. Almost in real-time, a retired brigadier general and colonel from the Army met the girl’s
family and determined the need. Once certain of the cause, NC immediately transferred money from his military pension fund to cover all the college expenses, including staying at a hostel to ease the pressure. Here is the introductory
video that
drove the decision and will bring tears to your eyes.
“The amazing part is that all this happened in 3.5 days, with my dad sitting in America,” Gupta said. “The idea of the Internet bringing the right people to the right place to help out is pretty spectacular. It was really touching to watch the girl’s reaction
when she found out she could pursue her dreams and attend college.”
What has happened since then is even more impressive. The brigadier general’s wife was so touched that when she met the girl, she took off her watch and gave it to her. Hundreds of other retired military personnel have since contributed many “drops” of kindness
that will propel this girl and many others toward their dreams for higher education.
Gupta said his father was always generous – for example, he used to take his family with him to an orphanage for the blind in India to personally hand out sweets to the students during major holidays so these children knew they had someone out there thinking
about them. “Those are the sorts of things my parents always encouraged us to do,” Gupta said. As for the girl he helped, she says she wants to become a teacher and go back to her village and help others.
While she is well on the path to contributing back to society, Infoblox employees are well on their way to finding their own philanthropic causes using Giving Your Way. From the program’s launch in February through May, more than 100 users in the U.S. and Canada
have logged in. The total user donations plus corporate matches are more than $8,000. To check out Giving Your Way and find their own focus for donations, U.S. and Canada employees can go to the Giving Your Way tile on Okta.

Recognize Your Colleagues Using BloxStar
If you attended the most recent All Hands meeting, you applauded the winners of the Q3 Super Bloxer awards:
-
Individual winners:
Marcus Jaeger, sales; Enrique Gonzalez, sales; and Heather McWilliams, marketing
-
Team winner from Finance-Accounting Operations:
Monica Blaj, Matt Henry, Karen DeLuca, Elsa Carrillo, Tina Intrieri, Janet Pham and Huong Tran
But did you know you can also see everyone who was nominated? Now that the nominations are housed in BloxStar, the employee
recognition system, you can easily give kudos to all the nominees. Just log in to BloxStar via the Okta tile.
Here are reasons to start using BloxStar regularly:
-
Monthly points: Every employee has an account in BloxStar with points they
can use to reward their colleagues. These accounts are replenished each month; employees should not add their own money.
-
Plentiful prizes: With rewards like whale-watching trips, hotel bookings
and gift cards, the BloxStar Rewards Catalogue has thousands of prizes to choose from.
-
Cross-departmental reach: Have you ever worked on a project with someone
in another department and wanted to thank them for their efforts? BloxStar allows you to recognize any Infoblox employee, whether that person is in your department or not.
-
Mobile access: BloxStar is accessible through your mobile phone and tablet,
so you can recognize your leaders and colleagues on the go at a time that is convenient for you.
-
Real-time recognition: Just like your favorite social media sites, BloxStar
has a live “Recent Activity” newsfeed so you can see all recognition happening across the organization, or within a specific department or location, in real time.

Effective Communication: Email Etiquette
Email can help get business done more efficiently – or it can be a major time sink. Follow these best practices to make sure you are using email effectively:
-
Know your audience: Are you sending to the appropriate mailing list, so
everyone who needs the information will get it but those who don’t will not? Are you giving your readers as much background information as they need – but not too much? And if you’re sending to an international audience, have you made sure that all the expressions
or references in your message will translate well?
-
Focus on importance: Before you send an email, consider whether email is
the best way to communicate your message. If it is, then plan the message so that non-critical information doesn’t overshadow what people absolutely need to know. Include as much text in email as you need to make your point — but no more.
-
Keep it simple: The most important thing about the text in email is that
it is readable. Arial font in a 10 to 11 point size in black typically reads the easiest in most email clients and follows our marketing guidelines. Don't overuse boldface, italics, colors and caps.
-
Cool off: A face-to-face conversation is always best when emotions are
involved. When you communicate via email, you can’t see the person's response to your words and adjust accordingly. But if a conversation is not possible, make sure you do not send email while you are angry. Instead, let the email sit while you cool off, then
revise it when you are calmer. Also follow this rule in reverse: A message that may seem to convey anger may just be due to a lack of attention on the writer’s part. Check with the writer before you send off an equally ill-considered reply.

Performance Goals: Time to Score Old Goals, Set New Ones
As the fiscal year draws to a close this summer, it’s time for all employees to assess how well they did on their goals for the second half of FY17 and to

-
June 29-August 4: Log into Workday and assess your FY17 second half goals.
-
Week of July 10: Second set of employee training sessions for those who missed them in June.
