I haven't been on this site in a looooong time.  Just wondering if anyone is still out there?

Hopefully, most of us will have received a vaccine and things will start getting back to semblance of normalcy. What ever that may be.....   Anyway, this list used to have quite a few subscribers on it.  Wonder what happened?

I am here. Wish we were more active. Was hoping to have a tech day for the Bmw airheads but COVID got in the way.

FWIW, I’m fixing a Matchless G12 with a broken crankshaft at the moment.  Real hot mess.

I was never really here to begin with, so my participation hasn’t changed much.

I know the feeling. Age (75) is catching up with me. However, in 2020, while staying mostly at home, I did manage to seal up a couple of oil leaks in my 67 Mountain Cub & both TR5Ts. Now all 3 are leak-free.  Next up is tightening up some oil seepage on my 57 R.E. Indian Woodsman.  2 years ago I installed the 612cc stroker kit in it.  Lots more power with that , but it still needs some fettling.

And, I recently picked up the Ford GT40 Replica kit I ordered from Race Car Replicas in Fraser, MI.
We'll be working on that one for a while..

Stay safe out there, Rod

I am working on a BMW conversion, a mid 60's earles fork frame with a 1974 R90/6 engine.  Things haven't gone as easy as I thought but I am working through issues.  Hope to have it up and running this summer.

I finished up two BMW R69's and first-year 1955 and a 2nd year 1956.  The '55 was unexpected so now, one of them has to go but we'll see.

Looking for a vapor honing machine to play around with.  Probably, don't need it but what the heck.

I am currently bikeless, but plan on remedying that this spring. Hey Rod, the company I work for laser cut the aluminum parts for your GT40 kit.

Sam,

Small world, eh?   There's LOTS of aluminum in this thing.  Gorgeous monocoque chassis with a bunch of alloy suspension components also.  Race Car Replicas CNCs a lot of the suspension stuff, but I figured someone else was in on it too (many thanks to you and your company).  The fiberglass body comes out of Canada. My wife & I looking forward to building this thing. Yes, she's totally involved in this.  Not looking for an exact copy of an original, and no plans to race it either.  We're doing it strictly as a street car.  500hp SBF mated to a 5spd ZF transaxle.  Should amount to plenty of fun.

For what it’s worth, all my Matchless engine parts are at Automotive Machine just north of 14 & Kelley.  They’ve been doing work for me for years and are super accurate, reasonably priced, and very dependable.

Danilo,
That's actually worth a lot.  A good reliable machine shop is always a good find.  We also have one here in Ann Arbor which has always given me timely, reasonable & quality service. Auto Parts Machine Shop & Services

Does anybody know a good reasonable painter for tanks and fenders?

GT40? Sweet. Ranks right up there with cars I’d consider building. Very top of the list is a Lamborghini Miura, but I haven’t seen a kit so far. Heard of one, saw someone had built one, but haven’t found out where to get one in the USA.

Not that it matters, and kit I’d like to own would probably be too expensive for me to buy anyway.

As for bikes, I keep threatening to start back up on my two Ducati projects but never take the plunge. I have a hot rod project I need to get rid of first. And, after 25 years of being exclusive to a certain brand I bought an Aprilia RSV-R for a track bike a few years back. Never bonded with it so it’ll be for sale this spring, but it was the gateway to buying a Moto Guzzi last summer. So that’s pretty much all I ride now, sold off most of my other bikes and only have an 851 left as far as rideable Ducatis go

PS - the hot rod project is a 1931 chassis with 1927 roadster body, flathead, needs (a lot of) work… just in case anyone feels like going traditional with their next ride…

Have a gas tank and a couple of fenders painted.  Tank may need some bodywork.

Happy New Year to all!

I got the fairing off the Moto Guzzi V11 LeMas just before the temperature dropped and got it into the basement to troubleshoot an intermittent starting issue and replace the neutral switch.
I love the bike but I don’t ride it much so I keep thinking I should sell it to someone who will give it some exercise.
So it needs to be in good shape by spring.

The bike I have been riding most of the time is an ‘18 Zero FXS electric supermotard which is a minor project since I want to put saddlebags on it.
Other wise you just put air I the tires and ride.
I’m seeing the Zero as one of the two bikes I’m gioing to keep.

The ‘78 Bonniville  project bike has gone to a friend who is going to put it back the way was before I got a hairbrained idea that I’d improve the braking by transplanting the front end from a late 90s Katana...
I’ve still got the Katana running gear (wheels, forks, swingarm , triple clamps, mono shock linkage, handlebars) if anyone can use it for a project.

The other keeper bike is Italian so another project.
It’s an ‘81 Moto Morini 500 which is beautiful but unlike anything else I’ve worked on.
I’d just about figured out how to replace the ignition and I noticed that the starter gearbox was leaking oil so I need to fix that

Ride safe

Andrew in Ann Arbor

How do you like the Zero?  I am interested in taking one for a demo ride at some point.

Morinis are nice. I think there is a very good ignition upgrade available.

Here is a tank and fenders/tinware I did for my 2006 Royal Enfield Bullet.  I do them in my garage so I need a little nicer weather.  But I've painted quite a few bikes.  I can also do custom decals.  Let me know what you're looking for.
