Subject: [sensorgnomads] SG software update for users who can't access the SG via USB and/or network drives

Hi folks,

There's a new SensorGnome software release which will be useful mainly
to people who can't use a USB cable to access the SG's web interface
and data drive. This is often an issue on government-issued laptops,
where installing drivers for the USB interface isn't permitted.

The new version lets you use an ethernet cable between your laptop and
the SG, and this won't require installation of any drivers. All it
requires is that your laptop have its ethernet port set to
automatically obtain an IP address. Most laptops are already set up
that way.

The new version also lets you download data files via FTP, rather than
having to use the SG's network drive. Again, government-issued
computers are often fussy about letting you map a networked drive, so
this method will be useful for those users. You will likely want
to install an FTP client that permits batch download of folders,
such as the FireFTP Add-on for Firefox.

This version still allows you to connect to the SG in same ways as
before; the new features just add to that.
