·        Recommendations for desiccant? - 2 Updates

Pamela Loring <pamela....@gmail.com>: Dec 14 10:09AM -0500

Hello Motus,

Just reaching out to see if anyone has used desiccants (e.g. silica packs)
to help reduce moisture in electronics boxes? Any field-tested product
recommendations are much appreciated. Our stations are in coastal/offshore
areas so looking for something with good absorption.

Many thanks,

Pam

Pamela,

We've used the 5 gram "Dry & Dry" brand in Michigan. They do well. They're
"rechargeable", so you can just take a few out to the site, swap them and
microwave them for next time. With any moisture absorber, the key is to
make sure the enclosure is air tight. Any air entrance will shorten the
life span of the desiccant and possibly cause corrosion.

Good luck,
Corey
