I noticed that all MSR uuids are in 8-4-4-16 format, rather than 8-4-4-4-12 format. This appears to be non-standard. I can't find any history on 8-4-4-16 format.

Real question: Is this going to change and if so, will we have warning?

Idle curiosity: Why.

BTW, I tried stripping the dashes and the REST endpoints reject the id's.

Dan - it's the format chosen by our earlier tech stack (Adobe/Java). Behind the scenes, we store an increasing number of these as native Postgres UUID fields which use the standard 36-character format. If this were to change in the API, we would likely support both formats but we don't have any short term plans to change it.
