Yes, I've heard of Nick Alexander's comprehensive collection of Ford woodies, I've got it on my list of things to do here in L.A.  I've heard that he offers an open house in January.  I'm going to look into it.  I'm on my way back to the U.P.  That's the upper peninsula of Michigan, where the wood of the Ford woodies came from (the Chrysler Town & Country was made of Arkansas wood, I've read).  Henry Ford loved the U.P.  He spent August there and had homes, lumber camps, mines and factories up there.  My place on Indian Lake is 40 miles west of his huge plant at Kingsford near Iron Mountain.  Kingsford was a relative of his and he drove the first prototype of the Model T up there from Dearborn in September 1908.  Henry built a distillery to produce methanol-based automotive fuel and he invented the (Kingsford) charcoal briquet to make use of wood waste. The chemical plant was closed in 1938 but the tall brick smokestacks with the letters "FORD" spanning them, were there until the mid-nineties.  Ford owned much forest land around me, last time i checked the plat book.

This collection of Ford and Mercury woodies belongs to Nick Alexander, of Los Angeles . He has at least one of every Ford woodie made from 1932 through 1957. It is the largest collection in the world. Every car is perfect. It is an amazing thing to see. He has done it in about the last 10 years.
