The Dlink DCS-5020L I had was a good camera. Great was especially was the feature to send a number of e-mails triggered by an event.
But then I needed a camera with zoom. So a bought an Amcrest camera in the States for 500 UD. But when I used it the wireless was broke and not usable. The Amcrst software on PC is great. It allows to record videos triggered by motion.
Then I bought Hikvision cameras. They are cheaper than Amcrest cameras. But then it was only possible to take pictures trigged by an event with the PC software.
So I had to buy a HiLook recorder which can do this. I am very negative about such recorders. I prefer PC software. Also to export videos recorded by motion with a Hilook recorder is tricky. And I missed my PC solution.
So I became interested in MotionEye. It offers to record videos triggered by motion.
I installed MotionEye according to this instruction on my Ubuntu PC:
This was quiet easy. And for a first test a used a smartphone as an ip camera, which was easy as well. No I am only looking for a good camera.
