Hardware:

Pi Zero View (Window Mount)

Pi Zero W

Official Raspberry Camera 2.1

Does anyone have "working settings" that they are happy with for motion detection?

Mine are as follows:

Trouble I'm having is I seem to be stuck in an all or nothing situation... it either triggers of EVERYTHING! From SUN light changes, reflection on van window, down to bloody leaves blowing on the trees, OR nothing at all - someone can pull up in a car and get out and walk to the door and it doesn't trigger at all.  I get either 50 pictures or 0 pictures :(

For example, I have about 50 - 60 images all like this:

where there's no actual motion that I can see.  FYI: Here is my mask:

I'm really struggling to find the best middle ground.  I also set a motion detection mask to "ignore" / block out (what ever you want to call it) the trees and main road but it's still triggering with lower settings.  I raise high enough to prevent false detections, but then it doesn't seem to detect anything at all!

So, I was wondering if people that use the motion detection wouldn't mind sharing their setting so I can compare.

Many thanks in advance

I have attached my settings, they run fairly well for approx. 1.5 years now. All I would say with you set-up is you are not making the best use of the scene. Maybe less sky if possible (tilt down) and raise up the camera a little if also possible.

Thanks for your settings - I know the camera isn't best mounted at the moment - it uses a Pi Zero View which basically just uses suckers and a tiny mount so that it sticks to a window, meaning I can't control any tilt etc it quite literally just sees straight ahead.  My wall mount case is on it's way though and I also have a wide fisheye lens that should also help with getting a much better viewing angle. :)
