Hi all

I'm looking fo a setup where I can utilise the resources of a central server for the motion capture and recording of movies in case of motion.
On top of that I want to use several RPI 3B+ and RPI Zero boards, running with buster and motioneye (not motioneyeos)
Server instance is running and a test rpi3b+ is running also with 042 and motion 4.2.2
As I have plenty of options to add the camera I would like to know the best "type" to add the camera to the central instance.
If I use Remote Motioneye camera, I'm able to edit the settings and so on but I was not able to enable the motion detection correctly as I would enable the motion detection on the remote Pi.
After that I tried to connect them as Network camera, but just came up with green screen.
Adding it as simple MJPEG cam provides the correct view but is very limited with the rest of the settings.
The cam on the Pi is addes as V4l2 cam

I had some motioneyeos installations some years ago and there I was able to set the type to "fast network camera" on the remote cam, but I miss that in motioneye right now. Is this somewhere hidden?

On top of that could anyone with a central motion detection and recording hub post their experience and setup?

Best regards

Fast Network Camera is a function of MotionEyeOS with CSI PiCams only.
There are other functions available, StreamEye might work for you, I haven't tried it recently. If you  want, I can try to set up and test.

Ah ok yeah then it was in one of my older motioneyeos installations. Reason I had switchted to buster+motioneye instead of motioneyeos, was that I had to reinstall several packages and so on, as the RPIs serves also other functions like sensor etc.
I was just curios if it was removed or I was just too dumb to find it.

Nevertheless am I right that I had to choose MJPEG camera if I just want to get the stream from the remote cams and do the motion detection and recording on the central host? I was just wondering that I get a green screen instead of the normal stream when I try to connect the RPIs via "Network Camera".
This brings me to my next question how do I add sound via the mic to the stream of the RPIs?

Best regards

Theoretically, yes. be sure to use the http://ip_address:808x URL (8081 if only a single camera)

As to sound recording, it is not supported in motion, which is a separate project:
But is probably among the top 5 requested features.
