Hi guys,

Just rebuilding my setup.

Currently have two cams - a cheap PTZ and a Pi Zero with the Noir cam.

I have an RPI3 running as the "hub", with an hard disk attached over usb.

All works as expected, the Hub cam sees the local HDD as it's "File Storage" location.

I'll ultimately have 3 or 4 cams total - adding a couple of additional Pi Zero's as above.

I know the Pi3 is "better" processing wise than the Zeros, but I think it'd give the Pi3 half a chance if the Zero's did their own processing, off loading all recorded data ("File Storage" location) back to the local HDD on the Pi3.

So, question is:

On the remote Pi Zero's, how do I have them use the HDD of the Pi3 as File Storage, rather than their own local sd card?

I believe this will be the path in "File Storage" setting - not sure what that would look like though?

Do I have to "share" the HDD on the network first - how do I do that?

Ta :)

I came across this link that seems to answer this question.  Im looking for the same solution but using and Ubuntu 18.04 desktop as the server storage instead a RPi3

hope it helps someone!

Hi
Enable ftp server with write permission on your hub.
On motion cam : file storage/upload/ftp server

👍
