This should be one of the right places to ask this but haven't got started using this for real yet so it's a bit delay between questions and answers. :( Our forum at http://www.mosync.com/forum would probably give you a quicker answer. :)

Styling the UI is done by setting parameters to each widget so it's not possible to use the more HTML5 friendly way, CSS.
