It sounds like the perception of Wikipedia and open-source or
crowd-source writing may be changing.

Have any teachers you know begun to see Wikipedia as a valuable tool to
teach research and writing skills?

Yes, some of my teachers have shifted their perspective...  even our librarians.
But we have many with warnings about the quality of the sources.
