Artist + Intelligence: Reimagining the Artistic Process with AI showcases the work of 12 artists who are at the forefront of AI image-making, having embraced AI image-generating tools as creative collaborators in their artistic process. The exhibition explores the cutting-edge intersection of human creativity and artificial intelligence, highlighting various innovative approaches to AI-assisted art production. Some artists rely entirely on AI-generated imagery, pushing the boundaries of what's possible with current technology, while others combine state-of-the-art AI tools with their own image assets, working hand-in-hand with the technology to bring their creative visions to life.
The exhibition invites visitors to consider the complex issues surrounding AI-assisted art and the ways in which artists are pushing the boundaries of contemporary art practice by collaborating with AI. Artist + Intelligence demonstrates that AI-assisted art is not a singular practice but rather a spectrum of creative possibilities shaped by the artist's intent, input, and partnership with technology. The diverse range of works on display, spanning from art and photorealistic works to animated and film projects, showcases the versatility and potential of AI as a creative tool across different artistic disciplines.
As the use of AI in art production evolves rapidly, Artist + Intelligence provides a platform for dialogue and reflection on the future implications of this technology for the art world and society. The exhibition emphasizes the essential role of human artists in guiding the outcomes of AI tools, ensuring that the resulting artworks are not merely the product of algorithms but the expression of unique creative visions born from the collaboration between artist and machine.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a panel discussion on AI & Creativity on July 13, 2024, from 1-2pm. This event will feature several artists from the exhibition who will discuss the current impact of AI on the arts. The panel will address the challenges, opportunities, and ethical considerations of integrating AI into creative processes from an artist's perspective and from an industry perspective.

Our exhibition Artist + Intelligence is part of the Digital New Arts (DNA) Festival, featuring events throughout Santa Monica's Cultural Corridor. Coinciding with The Getty's PST Art: 'Art & Science Collide' events, this year's festival will showcase a significant collection of digital arts in the Western Americas, including art exhibitions, screenings, panel discussions, performances, and online experiences.
