¡Congratulations to all participants of the  3rd Lía International
Artist’s Book Competition 2015!



We are pleased to share with you the deliberation of the contest, the
prize and honorable mentions:



We congratulate the winners of Lia's 3rd International Artist's Book Competition
Ave Barrera and Lola Hörner with the artist book: "21,000 princesas"

This past Saturday 28 of November 2015 at Lia's studio (Escuela Militar de Aviaciòn 60-A, Col. Ladrón de Guevara, Guadalajara, Jalisco, México) the members of the jury Carla Rippey, Inge Bruggeman, Alexander Campos, Barbara Tetenbaum y Clemente Orozco, after they went through 32 selected artist's books they came with the following results:
 
The jury found three artist's book which were likely on acquaring the prize.

The first of these, "Moisés" by Mariela Sancari,the jury appreciated the way in which the author, with
her innovating design, gets the reader involve with her search.

The second one, "Estridentópolis", by Sergio Maldonado and Ediciones Gamafotografia, impress the
jury because of the way it created a whole, incorporating the specific cultural references of Xalapa,
Veracruz, being these the pinhole photography and the traditional literature from the "Estridentistas".

The jury decided to give the prize to "21000 princesas" by Ave Barrera and Lola Horner for his
wonderfull content which was presented in a very clever way knitting together tales and red note.

Apart from these three remarkable artist's books, the jury award the honorable mentions to
the following artist's books:


 
“Caja de té. Breves poemas japoneses”, by Anaïs D’Argence, for the excellent way in which she
fused concept and form

“Etiqueta”, by Celeste Emi Vargas Hoshi,  for the way in which the perception of its content changes
within the process of our interaction with the book

“Libro de botones”, by Ioulia Akhmadeeva, for his playful impact and the way she manages
to convey  a cultural experience;

“Stepping Stones”, by Kyoko Matsunaga, for his excellent structure which conducts the expressive idea

 “La niña que fuiste”, by Mariana Felcman, for the elegant and poetic fluency way she presents
the forgiveness concept, moving from the image to the word.
