Athul Prasad is a London based photographer and director working across the genres of documentary, portraiture and lifestyle. Growing up in Kerala, in the southernmost part of India, Prasad dreamt of using photography as an artistic medium to explore the undiscovered. His first significant project “Kushti” photographing wrestlers in India’s oldest akhada led to a two-year collaboration with Condé Nast Traveller India, redefining the magazine’s visual voice as a photo editor and photographer in residence. Since then, his fascination towards photographing the romance of the world has led to commissions from T+L, AD, Tatler, and campaigns for Nike, Google, and OnePlus, capturing everything from color contrasts in bacteria to the Dalai Lama amongst the Himalayan foothills. In his visual practice, Prasad combines innovative use of image making techniques with physical interventions, to reflect on his deep desire to create images that portray an impressionistic view of the world.
