Now on view: Witnessing Life by Co Rentmeester
Witnessing Life reflects on Rentmeester’s unique ability to transcend genres, leaving a profound impact on journalistic, commercial and artistic photography. From his compelling war photography of the Vietnam war and the Watts riots, his wildlife photography to his groundbreaking Malboro Man campaigns, that redefined the visual identity of America. This exhibition not only celebrates Rentmeester’s remarkable career but also marks his symbolic return to Amsterdam, the city where his journey as a photographer began.
Publication & print
Together with publisher Lannoo, Foam presents Witnessing Life, a special book accompanying the exhibition. Both the publication and the iconic Jumpman photograph are available online and in-store at the museum.

Join us for Museumnacht 2025
Join us during Museumnacht (museum night) and experience an evening full of art, creativity, and music. Together with Afrovism, Foam invites you to explore a new way of looking at art and to ask: what does it mean to represent yourself in a world where image formation has become all-important?
In a series of workshops, installations, and performances, young creators explore the relationship between identity, representation, and image. From collage workshops with Sisters Janssen to jewelry making with Goldiie, a photobooth inspired by the work of Co Rentmeester, and vinyl listening sessions with 1.06 Library. This Museumnacht has everything to spark curiosity, creativity, and connection.
