Launch 6pm Thursday 5th February RSVP open now → Running 6 February–5 April 2026 At the International Centre for the Image
PhotoIreland presents the premiere of internationally acclaimed photographer Eamonn Doyle, artist-designer Niall Sweeney and composer David Donohoe new and extensive interdisciplinary body work AS IF, at the International Centre for the Image.
Eamonn Doyle’s practice has evolved rapidly over the last years from an acclaimed street photography approach towards intricate interdisciplinary and collaborative projects, frequently working with Niall Sweeney and David Donohoe. Their latest project, AS IF, presents an ambitious body of work that builds into a visceral and psychological articulation of the physical world and the psyche. It comprises silver gelatin prints, filmworks, montages, sound, music, painting, drawing and text.

Shot and recorded between Ireland and Japan—in city locations, on constructed studio sets, and in the photographic darkroom—the work assembles thousands of images with composed and recorded sound.
Presented in installation form, the events of AS IF take place simultaneously inside one structure, a structure that folds together the combined forces of an unstable material world and the inner worlds of its inhabitants. AS IF also draws on the processes, dynamics and sounds of its own making—of photography, the temporalities of the still and the moving image, the construction and destruction of sets and maquettes, and the making of, and moving to, music—often translating one through another.

PhotoIreland has supported Eamonn Doyle over the years, in amongst other ways, having launched almost all of his publications at The Library Project, from his first photobook i (2014), followed by ON (2015), End (2016), K (2018), as well as an eponymous book Eamonn Doyle published by Fundación MAPFRE and Editorial RM (2019), and most recently TWO (2022). Through projects such as the postcard collection ‘100 Views of Contemporary Ireland’ and the annual HALFTONE Print Fair, we showcased his latest artworks and have presented his published work internationally in key fairs and exhibitions such as Photobook Phenomenon (CCCB, Barcelona, 2017), Unseen Fair (Amsterdam, 2018), and On the Irish Photobook (Wellington, 2024).
In 2022, PhotoIreland Festival’s Opening The Gates presented the most comprehensive overview of the History and Practice of Photography in Ireland to date, including Eamonn’s ambitious video work installation Made in Dublin.

PhotoIreland grows the reputation of Irish artists globally through a 360 degree support system and platform for contemporary photography, activated through a diversity of projects. These include events such as PhotoIreland Festival and Halftone print fair amongst others; resources such as the PhotoIreland Collection, a specialised research library of photobooks, and Ireland’s Art Bookshop, The Library Project; via publishing with projects such as OVER Journal and TLP Editions; professional development support through networking and consultancy opportunities; and empowering early and mid-career photographers via our international partnerships, most relevantly through Creative Europe co-funded platforms such as FUTURES and Parallel.
In 2025, PhotoIreland launched the International Centre for the Image, Ireland's innovative cultural venue situated in the Dublin Docklands, with a focus on photography and the visual arts. The centre is a friendly and accessible venue that provides comfortable facilities, from the private artist studios, workshop, and offices, to the welcoming bookshop area, the expansive gallery space, as well as a quiet research library.
