Hi All,

its been pretty quiet on the list and its not too long now until the ride.

We have a good number riding and I'm assuming at least some of those starting from Moss Vale will need a lift there. Who is being driven up and who needs a lift?

I'll put my hand up as needing a lift.

Accommodation is also something people will need to sort if not already. A few of us have stayed at the Tall Trees in Dixon in past years and it is within easy walking distance to the food precinct we usually meet at for dinner on the Friday night.

One final thought. With this year's ride totalling just over 200kms we will really need to think about and manage stoppage times through the day. If we aim to leave Moss Vale at 7am and then have the usual 5 -10 minute stop at Wingello I'm thinking that we don't stop as long at Marulan this year. Rather than ride into Marulan and stop at the Meridian Café we can save some time with a brief stop at the Service Centre to refill bottles, take a loo break etc.   At Goulburn we should aim to keep the stop no longer than 1 hour.  Thoughts?

Meridian Cafe at Marulan really only came into play with the Tarago route of the last couple of year as the lunch stop was much further into the ride. So the main stops this year should be limited to GreenGrocer and Merino in Gunning. Brief stops elsewhere such as Wingelo as required.

I’m still keen, but hanging on by a thread with limited training due to recurring calf strains.  I’m planning on going up on with Steve to MV and will probably going back into the car at some point along the ride.  Hoping to make it to lunch at least.   I wont be doing B4B this year so I’m keen to get a lift back on Saturday morning with Steve assuming there’s room?

I will be staying at the tall trees again.  Suggest we look into a more favourable restaurant than the Thai place although they do provide entertainment by getting things wrong each year J I will look into…

All,

 

The Milliken car will not be available for bringing riders back on Saturday.

 

Josh was hit by a car while riding over Easter, and is now out of Bike 4 Bibles. (He broke his collarbone in the accident, and has had surgery on Friday to put it all back together).

Josh and Julie might drive down on Friday evening to see the start of the Bike 4 Bibles ride on Saturday, if they do they will most likely stay for the day in Canberra. At this stage we are still unsure of their plans.

I have a full car for the Saturday return journey, however may have a seat or two for the trip up to Moss Vale - though it is my preference that you all revise rule #5 and get on the 'leave from the gong' group. However, if you are happy to put up with an hour of me calling you soft as we drive up the pass then claim your seat forthwith.

I am hoping to get one of the bike for bibles trailers to tow behind the support vehicle, repleat with fancy flashing lights and large ‘riders ahead’ signs - therefore should have plenty of room for overnight bags and hopefully a few bike holding apparatus’ on top if anyone blows up en route (e.g. me last year) and needs to recover in the vehicle. Folks will need to drop off said gear at my place the day/night before (Thursday). 170-172 Derribong Drive Cordeaux Heights.

If there is a need I could drive some bodies and bikes up The Pass before heading too work.

I should be able to organise a B4B trailer for you to tow down with all the necessary bling.

Newing's will have at least one spare spot to get someone to Moss Vale in the morning - although if last year's drive up MacPass is anything to go by, the drive is not for the faint-hearted with my dad at the helm - poor Chris saw his breakfast again before getting on the bike ... so no softies in the Newing car on the way to Moss Vale!

I’m driving to Moss Vale like last year and parking the car.  I think Scott is coming with me, although we’ll have to double up the bikes in the back of the Seca.

 

The Steemson family are staying at the Pacific Suites closer to town at the request of my family.  We probably won’t make it for Dinner on Friday or the accidental catchup for Saturday Brekky like last year unfortunately.

 

Agree we probably need to get away closer to 7 than we did last year and minimize breaks otherwise we’ll be hitting Canberra in the dark and in rush hour.

Hi Kirk,

I'll be driving to MV early Friday and leaving the car there for the weekend.  My wife Gretel and I will be spending the weekend in Canberra - she will be meeting me there after the ride on Friday.  We plan to be at dinner Friday night but not brekky Sat.

I'll have space for a couple of pax driving up to MV.  If need be I'll put the Gripsport bike rack on the towbar.

Look like I will be taking you up on the spare seat for the lift up Pete. I was waiting to see if Steve Rostirolla responded to say he was back in for the ride given Andy Smith was happy to do the share ride/drive thing.

If it turns out Steve R is back on board and he's happy to give me a lift I'll jump in with him given he lives just around the corner and would be much easier for pickup.

Still looking for a lift back given I'm no longer driving Scott's car back now.
