Eight of us gathered together to eat, drink, hack, and talk - John-
John, Phill-Bill, Gary-Jerry, Josh and Ben. :)
As is my habit, I arrived around 3:45 PM and the gals at Wired Coffee
didn't disappoint! The Chicken-Caesar wrap and green tea is always a
favourite of mine.
The first thing I did when the computer was set up was to attempt to
upgrade to Ubuntu 9.10, but the forecast of a six-hour download (!)
prevented me from doing so. Ouch! Instead, I opted to do the normal
updates of my notebook computer operating systems. Wired Coffee's
connection is twice as fast as my connection at home, so this is when
I normally "catch up" with the rest of the world.
After that, a few of the early guys got there and we talked about
screen-casting programs, the kind that give you the ability to make a
movie of what you're doing on your computer. Inspired by what was
being said, I downloaded two of them, Windows Movie Maker and XvidCap,
and studied other screencast programs.
Late in the evening, we were approached by three guys working on a
business project for their MBA about seeking a programmer's
perspective on processing small business loans. The conversation was
good and we invited them to join us again next month, if they want to.
Until next time, Happy Hacking! :)
