Eight people attended September's MOSLUG meeting. We're growing every
month! (Let's hope it continues to be that way.) Attendees included
John, Phill, Sean, Gary, John, Eric, newcomer Ben, and myself.
We wrestled with trying to get Stellarium (a great Planetarium
program) compiling on John's Dell computer running Ubuntu 8.04, but
had too many problems with it. The cmake script kept stopping to tell
us that it couldn't find an important QT-related file (I don't
remember which one) and no matter what qt-related .deb file we
installed with apt-get, we couldn't resolve the problem. I was easily
able to compile and run it on my HP laptop with Ubuntu 9.04 - which
only seemed to add to the confusion. Oh well, we'll get it installed
eventually.
I brought my DV-Dongle with me to give a brief demonstration of D-Star
radio and it worked great. We didn't get to hear the "Net" that I
planned on, but we did hear a few good conversations and I even spoke
to one of the Hams on the other end, which I believe was in Georgia.
We also briefly talked about my new book on Android, scheduled for
release next month. (

Finally, Wired Coffee was up to their usual excellent quality and we
spent many hours there hacking, talking, eating, drinking, and hacking
some more. It's a great location for "club" meetings - so long as the
club is small enough.
I'll be in Fort Collins, Colorado when next month's meeting is held,
so I won't be able to attend.
