Dear PhD students in linguistic typologyDear supervisors,

am happy to announce the Call for abstracts for the upcoming ETT (Emerging Topics in Typologyconference.

ETT is an international conference series organized by and for typologically oriented PhD students. This year it will be held from 15 to 17th July in Mainz, Germany.

Here are some of the ETT's key features:

  • All presenters as well as organizers are PhD students;
  • Additionally, doctoral students take part in the reviewing process: each abstract is reviewed by two senior researchers and one student;
  • Each accepted paper is assigned a senior researcher with relevant expertise, who serves as a mentor and provides feedback to the speaker prior to the conference;
  • The conference also includes two Keynote talks by early-career doctorsFurthermore, we are now launching a new tradition - an opening 'welcome' lecture by a researcher from the hosting institution. This year we will listen to Prof. Walter Bisang.
