This is Anahita from UC Riverside. I am using MOSFIRE DRP (latest version) to reduce the spectra taken in ABBA dithering pattern. I have a problem with cosmic ray rejection for Y band. The final rectified 2D spectra from DRP is not well cleaned from CRs.I know that this problem is because of small number of spectra per position (4 for our data). But I was trying to use the LA_cosmic code (from Pieter van Dokkum) to correct them. I know that someone else has asked this question before, but the question about LA_cosmic in that post is still open.
Actually I am running the code on "eps_Offset_[###].txt.fits" images, because the code needs to be used on flat field, bias subtracted images (not background subtracted). Then I use the LA_cosmic output files as input for final step of DRP, 'rectify'. But the final 2D spectra output is still full of cosmic rays and not basically different from what I had before running LA_cosmic. I am not sure if this is the best way to do this. Because I think that I need to change the "var_Offset_[###].txt.fits" files as well. I was wondering if you (or anyone else) have ever used this code on DRP 2D outputs. Or if you are aware of any other code which is tested before on DRP files.
Thank you very much,
Anahita
