Hey all,

I'm attempting to use Moses to build a translation toolkit at work. My first attempt at installing Moses hit many roadblocks. IRSTLM would not install properly if I recall. I ended up finding DoMY and have installed it. So far it is working great, however, I'd like to get multi-threading working as the machine I have to work on has 8 cores available. I feel like it would be much more worth my time to just drop DoMY and attempt to get Moses and MMM working correctly. Can anyone offer advice? I am an experienced programmer but new to linguistics so Moses vanilla is very hard for me to understand fully right now. Will MMM be user friendly enough or should I stay with DoMY until I learn more?

Thanks,
Taylor Rose

Hi Taylor,

The MMM team discontinued development and disbanded almost a year ago. DoMY is my company's project and we also support MMM users.

Your experience confirms that the Moses trunk has out-grown the capabilities of the MMM scripts. If you're interested, you're welcome to pick up the MMM development.

A little about DoMY. DoMY CE builds all Moses components with full support for multi-threading including SRILM, RandLM, KenLM, and Moses binaries. DoMY CE also compiles Moses Server with XMLRPC functionality. You can access these capabilities through the native Moses scripts.

Best regards,
Tom
