Brand Park Trail, Sunday, April 6 2014
Please join Mosaic Outdoor Club of Greater Los Angeles in hiking the
Brand Park Trail in Glendale. The hike is approximately 6.4 miles long with
a 1,300 foot elevation gain. The hike
starts in Brand Park
behind the Library and leads to the Verdugo Outlook in the Verdugo Mountains
with vast views of the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles.
Difficulty is average. We will
break for lunch at the Outlook. The
whole hike is expected to take around 4 hours.
IMPORTANT: All MOSAIC events require
participants to sign a Liability Release Waiver at the event location. If you

leader if you have any questions about this.
HIKE MEETING PLACE:-- In front of Library in Brand Park. The Library is the white building with the Spanish/Moorish architecture. The actual trail head is in back of the library.
HIKE START TIME: Meet at the trailhead at 9:45 A.M. (directions below); leave at 10:00 A.M. SHARP!!
HIKE END TIME: 2:00 P.M.
BRING: Be sure to bring water (two liters recommended), hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, Lunch, a snack to share, and a jacket, sweater or windbreaker, as it may get cool, and/or windy.
FOOTWEAR: Hiking boots or trail running shoes recommended, ABSOLUTELY NO sandals or other open-toe shoes, flip flops, casual shoes or high heels.

Rain cancels but drizzle or clouds don't
PARKING INFORMATION: Park either in the lot for the Park near the Library or along the streets leading up to the Library and Park.
DIRECTIONS TO TRAIL HEAD: Take the Golden State Freeway (I-5) and exit on Western Avenue in Glendale. Then go northeast on Western Ave for about 1.5 miles, turn right on Mountain St., then left on either El Miradero Ave or Grandview Avenue into the Brand Park and Library.
CARPOOL POINTS:
We will carpool from the West side, the Valley and Orange County (See beIow).
West LA Carpool
We will carpool from Trader Joe's - 10850 National Boulevard (at Westwood). There is plenty of parking on the side streets - do not park in the Trader Joe's lot. Meet in the upper Trader Joe's lot at 8:50 A.M. and leave at 9:00 A.M. SHARP. PLEASE NOTE: Be prepared to form your own carpools if there are no Mosaic representatives.
Valley Carpool
We will meet in Sherman Oaks, 15410 Ventura Blvd, at the Union 76 Gas Station across from Marriot Courtyard Hotel (on Ventura Blvd. just west of the 405 Fwy.). Meet at 9:10 A.M. and leave at 9:15 A.M. SHARP. PLEASE NOTE: Be prepared to form your own carpools if there are no Mosaic or representatives.
Long Beach/West Orange County Carpool
We will carpool from BEHIND CVS Pharmacy - 12490 Seal Beach Blvd Seal Beach, CA 90740-2711 (at Saint Cloud). There is plenty of parking BETWEEN the CVS Pharmacy and the Ralph's. There is a Starbuck's and various other restaurants and stores such as ZPizza, Togo's, Islands, Target, etc. in the same parking lot. Meet in the parking lot behind the CVS Pharmacy at 8:35 A.M. and leave at 8:45 A.M. SHARP. PLEASE NOTE: Be prepared to form your own carpools if there are no Mosaic or representatives.
