Animals and Movies Adventure & Charity Coin Drive at the LA Zoo, Sunday, October 25th, 2009
Join Mosaic Outdoor Club of Greater Los Angeles and Nexus, for a unique, one of a kind event -- Animals and Movies Adventure and Charity Coin drive -- a social gathering for you to meet & mingle with new people, network, and schmooze with your friends while participating in an interactive contest consisting of animal, movie, and LA Zoo trivia, puzzles, and physical challenges.
• The team with the most points wins a prize. The prize starts at $100 and goes up with attendance.
• The event begins with a brisk walking tour to familiarize you with the zoo. During this tour and the following 45 minutes, you’ll have a chance to meet and mingle with new people and schmooze with your friends. Take this time to form or join a team of 4-6 people and grab a bite to eat.
• The contest opens with the team trivia challenge, consisting of a series of questions related to animals, movies, and the LA Zoo.
• The main event of the contest is the Zoo Adventure, a series of puzzles your team will solve by exploring the zoo together.
--- Your team will receive the first puzzle at “Puzzle Central”.
--- Upon solving this puzzle, write your answer clearly on the line at the bottom of the page containing the puzzle.
--- Exchange your puzzle answer for a new puzzle at “Puzzle Central”
--- Continue to exchange puzzle answers for new puzzles until the contest ends.
--- Teams may choose to “pass” on a puzzle. Once a puzzle has been turned in, it may not be worked again.
• You are invited to contribute to the Charity Coin Drive. Participants in the Coin Drive will vote for the charity to receive all the coins collected.
• Teams will be judged on total points acquired by solving puzzles, answering the trivia challenge, and contributions made by team members to the Charity Coin Drive.

9:30-10:15 a.m Check-In and On-Site Registration outside the zoo -- Find us outside the zoo, to the right of the ticket booth (in front of the Children’s Discovery Center building). Look for our blue balloon.

10:30-10:50 a.m Check-In and On-Site Registration inside the zoo -- Enter the zoo, go up the stairs, and turn left - we'll be between Sea Life Cliffs and the Safari Cafe, straight across from Reggie the Alligator. Look for our blue balloon.
9:30-10:15 a.m Check-In and On-Site Registration outside the zoo -- Find us outside the zoo, to the right of the ticket booth (in front of the Children’s Discovery Center building). Look for our blue balloon.

We will carpool from Trader Joe's - 10850 National Boulevard (at Westwood). There is plenty of parking on the side streets - do not park in the Trader Joe's lot. Meet in the upper Trader Joe's lot at 8:45 A.M. and leave at 9:00 A.M. SHARP. PLEASE NOTE: Be prepared to form your own carpools if there are no Mosaic or Nexus representatives.
We will meet in Sherman Oaks, 15410 Ventura Blvd, at the Union 76 Gas Station across from Marriot Courtyard Hotel (on Ventura Blvd. just west of the 405 Fwy.). Meet at 9:00 A.M. and leave at 9:15 A.M. SHARP. PLEASE NOTE: Be prepared to form your own carpools if there are no Mosaic or Nexus representatives.

We will carpool from BEHIND CVS Pharmacy (formerly SavOn Drugs) - 12490 Seal Beach Blvd Seal Beach, CA 90740-2711 (at Saint Cloud). There is plenty of parking BETWEEN the CVS Pharmacy and the Ralph's. There is a Starbuck's and various other restaurants and stores such as ZPizza, Togo's, Island's, Target, etc. in the same parking lot. Meet in the parking lot behind the CVS Pharmacy at 8:30 A.M. PLEASE NOTE: Be prepared to form your own carpools if there are no Mosaic or Nexus representatives.

Neighborhood Walk to Movie Star Homes and Brunch at Nate & Al's, Sunday, November 8th, 2009
Have you ever wondered where movie stars like Keanu Reeves, Leonardo DiCaprio, Simon Cowell, Jay Leno and Madonna live ? Well they live right in your backyard. Mosaic Outdoor Club of Greeater Los Angeles will be taking you on a star walk through the Beverly Hills neighborhoods to check out the homes of the stars you have always admired. Using the traditional "Map to the Stars" you might buy on Hollywood Blvd, we'll try to make this a scenic, interesting walk with alot of really beautiful, ritzy architecture and landscapes. We'll give you a printout of our route so you can follow along. We'll try to keep the walk about 4 miles, but it might be a little more because some of the stars live in exclusive areas, there might be some uphill...so bring comfortable walking shoes. Afterwards, we'll stop by Nate and Al's for a Sunday brunch to discuss which actors and actresses are hot, and what juicy gossip we might have heard.

WALK MEETING PLACE: -- Meet at the NW corner of Crescent Dr and Santa Monica Blvd in Beverly Hills, opposite the Beverly Hills Police Station where "Beverly Hills Cop" was filmed. There is free parking on the street one block N of Santa Monica Blvd.
WALK START TIME: Meet at 9:30 a.m.
WALK END TIME: Return by 11:45 a.m.
FOOTWEAR: A nice, comfortable pair of walking shoes.
COST: Brunch at Nate and Al's is about $10-15 a person, depending on what you order.
AFTER HIKE at NATE and AL for BRUNCH:
We will reconvene for brunch at Nate and Al's deli and restaurant, located at 414 N Beverly Dr, Beverly Hills, CA. Expected time for brunch is about 12:30 pm.
PARKING INFORMATION: Park around the vicinity of Crescent Dr and Santa Monica Blvd in Beverly Hills, The parking is free on the street on Sunday morning. Be observant of the signs around the neighborhood so that you don't get ticketed.
