Good morning dearest Exmays,
As at today March 12, 2015 we only have responses from the class sets of 1973/78 (represented by Dr. Mathew Ogayemi) and 1983/88 set (represented by Ex-May Gbenga Oyenuga). The 2 sets have contributed N100,000.00 each and as such we have just N200,000.00 from a set target of N1.2million.
This mail therefore serves as a reminder that the various class sets should please hold their meetings quickly and come up with their contributions so we can attain a closure in good time. We are just about 5 weeks away from the event week.
Thank you and God bless you all.
Regards,

Subject: FINAL BURIAL RITES OF LATE PA HECTOR ODUNEYE AND MOSA'S PARTICIPATION
Dearest Exmays,
Following our earlier announcement of the passing unto eternal glory of our dearest daddy, Pa H.O. Oduneye, the family has reverted with the final burial arrangement as follows:
Wake Keep/Lying-in-State: Friday, April 24, 2015
Interment and Final Burial: Saturday April 25, 2015
Venue: His residence at Imosan-Ijebu, Ogun State.
The detailed program with timings, definite address and descriptions shall be communicated in due course.
Late Pa Hector Oduneye’s journey through Mayflower School is detailed below:
1st coming: September 1973 to 1975 as Vice Principal
2nd coming: 1976 to 1978 as Vice Principal and acted as Principal when Dr. Tai Solarin was detained by the then military Government of Gen. Yakubu Gowon
3rd Coming: 1984 to 2002 as Administrator of the Student Second Home for 18years
Consequently, Pa Oduneye tutored and impacted more than 3 generations of Exmays and members of 31 of the 45 class sets that had passed through Mayflower School as at the time of his retirement in 2002 as follows:
1st coming: September 1973 to 1975 as Vice Principal (class sets of 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78)
2nd coming: 1976 to 1978 as Principal (class sets of 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82)
3rd Coming: 1984 to 2002 as Administrator (class sets of 84 to 2005 i.e. 21 class sets in all)
There is no doubt that Pa Hector Oduneye is a Mayflower Project that must always be celebrated and Exmays should therefore play a very important and active role in his final journey for the moral values he impacted in us while assisting our father, Dr. Tai Solarin.
We have attached a link below for further updates on the life and times of Pa Hector Oduneye:
Following this conviction, MOSA (through all Exmays) shall support the family in the events planned for his burial. We have proposed the following as the support from all Exmays for this great man that lived a life of selflessness in caring for us:
1. Half-paged advert in the Punch Newspaper (Date to be determined): N300,000.00
2. Donation of 1 cow: N130,000.00
3. Donation of 25cartons of canned soft drinks: N50,000.00
4. Donation of 25 cartons of canned malt drinks: N60,000.00
5. Expenses for Candle Light Procession (branded T-shirt, Candles and Water) N100,000.00
Total N640,000.00
The candle light procession shall hold on the night of Friday April 24 at Imosan-Ijebu, time is 7.00-10.00pm.
We hope to raise nothing less than N1million from Ex-Mays worldwide for this purpose and the difference shall be made out via a cash draft to the widow of Late Pa Hector Oduneye. As usual, all receipts and expenses shall be well documented and accounted for, as accustomed to the current Exco.
While noting that donations are expected from a broad spectrum of class sets, we believe that some class sets are yet unorganized and as such in order to make the desired impact, we expect each class set to make a contribution of not less than N100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira only) each. Individual donations would also be appreciated especially from Ex-Mays that had a personal contact and experiences with Pa Oduneye.
We are aware that the various class sets chairpersons would need to contact members of their class sets before commitments are made, and this is why we have sent this mail early enough to serve as first call for immediate action. We expect all donations to be concluded within 4 weeks i.e. on or before March 30th so that MOSA can co-ordinate effectively and ensure proper representations.
Please, all donations from class sets and individual Ex-Mays should be channeled to the following account:
Account Name: Mayflower Old Students Association (MOSA)
Bank: Union Bank Plc
Account No: 0003990121
Branch: Yaba, Herbert Macaulay Street
Sort Code: 032157332
Deposit Description: E.g. (1990 Set for Pa Oduneye)
Please the deposit description is very important so we can differentiate the deposits from our normal annual dues et al for the purpose of reconciliation.
Do kindly prompt any or all of the following whenever a deposit has been made by your class set:
Abiodun Dada: 08033037192
Tokunbo Sanni: 08023151124
Tola Adebayo: 08022081100
Akin Akinsanya: 08068426332
Kemi Oyefeso: 08064614287
You may also do a response to this mail for the information of all.
Thank you dearest Ex-Mays and may God continue to show us mercy.
Yours,
Abiodun Dada
President, MOSA
Good afternoon dear Exmays,
The burial of Pa Hector Oduneye is now exactly 23 days away and we need to up the tempo on our preparation.
As at today March 31st, we are still very far from our target as we have responses only from the class sets of 1973/78 (represented by Dr. Mathew Ogayemi) and 1983/88 set (represented by Ex-May Gbenga Oyenuga).
This mail therefore serves as a second reminder that the various class sets should please respond with their contributions so we can attain a closure at the end of next week.
I have attached the invite containing the programme of events.
Thank you and God bless you all.
Regards,

Dear Exco members,
Pls find below the response that I got from the 1970/74 class set.
This is evidently a brilliant idea and I have contacted the children of late Pa Oduneye to come up with suggestions on what could be done in his memory in Mayflower, maybe this class set may just decide to fund same.
I will keep you updated.

Hello Biodun. At our set's quarterly meeting on Saturday 14/03/2015, this issue was discussed and we resolved only to be part of any arrangement whereby the name of the departed is being immortalized by either sinking a borehole, or any other useful infrastructure within the school compound or in His home town in his name. This we believe would be more beneficial to either the students or the people than investing in such consumable items as listed in your mail. Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android |
