Samsung Android Phones Coming In Q3 2009 Posted: 19 Mar 2009 06:07 AM PDT Following the recent Android blurrycam image from Samsung's dealer show in Amsterdam, DigiTimes are today reporting that Samsung are planning to launch their first Android phone as early as the third quarter of this year. Based on information leaked from Samsung, the company's first Android handset will be similar to HTC's forthcoming HTC Magic handset in design and hardware specifications, and both models will be built with 3.5G chipset solutions from Qualcomm, the sources noted. The HTC Magic will mark HTC's second Android phone release and is scheduled for launch in April exclusively to the European Vodafone network. The HTC Magic is expected to be alunched across the US on the T-Mobile network shortly after although to date there has been no official confirmation from T-Mobile US. Rumor: Acer A1 Android Phone Set For September Release Posted: 23 Mar 2009 06:52 AM PDT The Philippine Business Mirror newspaper are today reporting that Acer are planning to launch their first Android powered handset in September of this year. According to an unknown source from the Taiwanese company, the handset will be known as the 'A1' and will be one of four Acer handsets that will make their debut in September. The A1, equipped with a touch screen, is among four handset models that Acer plans to debut that month, the person said, asking not to be identified because he’s not authorized to comment on the matter. Henry Wang, a spokesman at Taipei-based Acer, declined to comment. Marsha Wang, a spokesman at Google in Beijing, declined to immediately comment. [via businessmirror.com.ph] I must add that this article just landed in my inbox a few minutes ago, and up until that point i'd never heard of the Philippine Business Mirror newspaper. Their about us page does make them seem fairly credible, but faced with news from unknown official sources, who knows?

Orange France Launching 6 Android Phones Including HTC Hero Posted: 25 Mar 2009 04:52 AM PDT French website Mobinaute have discovered that Orange France plan to launch six new Android powered handsets in 2009, including the HTC Hero which was revealed back in January by HTC's leaked 2009 line-up. According to the leaked information, the French Orange network will see Android powered handsets from Sony Ericsson, Motorola, LG, Samsung and HTC. Orange France already have one Android phone on their network, the HTC Dream (G1), and plan to follow that up with the launch of the HTC Hero. According to the unnamed source the HTC Hero release will be followed up a few weeks later by an HTC Android phone in a different form factor. Orange France have also confirmed to customers that the Android 'Cupcake' update will be made available to Dream owners in late April, with another 'major' update due in May. [via UnwiredReview.com]
