With your adventure stretching the wide breadth of the Lands Between, dragons, monsters, and difficult bosses, it's a little surprising that the Elden Ring PC requirements 2024 are very accessible to modern machines. The first Elden Ring DLC looked as though it might make the game more demanding on your PC, but fortunately the Shadow of the Erdtree requirements only demand a little extra HD space.
So, to meet the Elden Ring minimum requirements, you'll need an AMD Radeon RX 580 graphics card, an AMD Ryzen 3 3300X processor, and 12GB of RAM. This level of hardware is more than enough to get you up and running in the game, and run the game well, but you might encounter a few performance issues during particularly crowded areas of the game.
If you want to boost fps, you'll need to for the Elden Ring recommended specs which only require an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X CPU, 16GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GPU or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56.
While this is a surprisingly low bar for gamers to enjoy Elden Ring, it is worth mentioning that the recommended specs are by no means the best way to enjoy the game (at least from a graphics perspective). If you want to enjoy a full 4K resolution, HDR, or ray tracing, you'll need to meet the Elden Ring ultra specs. There are no official ultra specs, but you'll want to aim for an NVIDIA RTX 40 series of GPUs, paired with the equivalent of an Intel Core i7-12700K CPU, and upwards of 16 to 32GB of RAM.

The Elden Ring download size for PC comes in at 80GB of HDD or SSD space with Shadow of the Erdtree installed. Previously, the game only required 60GB of HD space until the release of Shadow of the Erdtree which expanded the game's size requirements. Although you do not necessarily need to install the game onto the best SSD for gaming, it is something we highly recommend doing to ensure you get the best performance.

After Elden Ring's minimum specifications briefly appeared on Steam earlier this week, the game's Twitter page has now unveiled the full system requirements to run FromSoftware's latest brutal endeavour.
While Ted Litchfield theorised that Steam's recommended specs may have accidentally been listed as the minimum, sadly that doesn't seem to be the case. You'll be needing at least 12GB of RAM to run the game, plus either an Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580. If you want to run the game at recommended specs, you'll need a little more RAM at 16GB and either an Nvidia GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon Vega 56.
It's a far cry from the sort of specifications we're used to seeing in FromSoftware games, especially considering the game is also coming out on PS4 and Xbox One. It'll be interesting to see how our machines handle the game and whether FromSoftware is overshooting a little on the specs, if it's a case of poor optimisation or if Elden Ring really is going to be that bitch.

The good news is that if your PC can handle Elden Ring, then you're ready for Shadow of the Erdtree as the requirements are roughly the same. These PC requirements aren't too taxing, but like with most From Software games, you're going to want to make certain that Shadow of the Erdtree runs as smoothly as possible. You can't dodge a telegraphed attack if the game sputters worse than a poorly maintained Mazda Miata. You'll also need to clear some space on your PC, and considering just how dense the lore of Elden Ring is, this isn't too surprising.
Even if you're not planning to grab Shadow of the Erdtree, the day-one patch for the expansion will add several new features to the base game. Bug fixes, balance adjustments, five new hairstyles, and an improved inventory system will be added for all players, amongst several other upgrades to the core experience.
According to our recent Shadow of the Erdtree hands-on preview, From Software's expansion is "shaping up to be something special," and has some "straight-up difficult" boss battles that could push you to your breaking point. You might want to invest in some padding to wrap around your PC just in case you find yourself on a losing streak against one of the new bosses.
