We just received the 2012 Product Design Suite and I've made a deployment choosing the 32-bit option. We have a pretty mixed environment with both 32-bit and 64-bit systems and I was wondering whether I should create a different deployment for users with a 64-bit system. What do you think? Is there an advantage in using the 64-bit application on a 64-bit system?
I need some advice. I'm taking a course on Linkedin to learn Autodesk Inventor, but I couldn't find it available for Mac. The Autodesk website only allows Windows 64-bit. My Macbook Air is a 2011 model so I cannot download Boot camp from the app store. Of course there is the option of using Parallels, but it's a little pricey on the monthly plan. I've come up with a few ideas on how to possibly fix this issue.

Drill down to the inventor setup.exe file in the bin\ directory on the cd and it will not run the os detection and will install just fine. That's not saying that the program will run flawlessly once installed.
Both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the latest GibbsCAM programming software for CNC machine tools have been certified for Autodesk Inventor 2011 Digital Prototyping software, under the Autodesk Inventor Certified Application Program. The certification is granted only after a product has been thoroughly tested by Autodesk to ensure it meets guidelines and testing criteria, according to Gibbs and Associates, which reported the news. "Certification demonstrates that the product is of high quality and up to date, and that it provides the highest level of interoperability with Autodesk Inventor software," the developer stated. Autodesk Inventor is a digital prototyping software that lets manufacturers digitally design, visualize and simulate how a product will work under real world conditions before it is built, which helps reduce cost and speed time to market in highly competitive industries.
"Autodesk Inventor users can rest assured that they will continue to have the high interoperability they have enjoyed between GibbsCAM and Autodesk Inventor for several years," stated Bill Gibbs, founder and president of Gibbs and Associates, "but now with both versions of GibbsCAM, 32-bit and 64-bit, which have been shipping since January. Our joint customers will be very pleased with the number and depth of features included in GibbsCAM 2010, as they begin to take advantage of the multiple usability and functional enhancements and new machining features that we included."
This article covers how to use Database Libraries with 32-bit and 64-bit Altium Designer Software on the same computer and how to use a 64-bit version of Altium Designer when you are using a 32-bit version of Office. This article should help you out if you get the message: "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application." as described in this forum post: Or if you get this message: "An error occurred while establishing a connection to the database. Altium Designer requires that the 64-bit Microsoft Access Database Engine be installed. For more information and application solutions, click here."
The CAD-integrated hyperMILL CAM software allows construction data to be processed simply and without any problems by the NC programmer. The 64-bit multi-core technology used in the CAM solutions from OPEN MIND helps ensure that toolpaths for the most complex machining operations can be implemented in the shortest possible time. Powerful NC programs help companies to achieve their goal faster, streamlining the production of precision parts. This is a key success factor for the entire manufacturing process.
Whether your Windows operating system is the 32-bit or the 64-bit version, the version is automatically detected during installation. The appropriate version of Autodesk Inventor is installed. A 64-bit version of Autodesk Inventor cannot be installed on a 32-bit system.
Also recently announced, the mental ray rendering software from mental images will be made available in a native 64-bit version for Intel Itanium processors. 3D Studio MAX users who use the mental ray bundled version for rendering can enjoy the benefits of the advanced IA-64 architecture for a complete workflow solution. The native IA-64 version of 3D Studio MAX is being developed in collaboration with mental images.
