Description

The Morphodynamic Meetings bring together scientists intrigued by the diverse shapes found in nature -- from geological patterns sculpted by water, sediment transport, and erosion, to biological structures that emerge during development in response to chemical gradients and mechanical forces. How do these shapes arise? What is the relationship between the final form and the growth process that produced it? What underlying dynamics drive growth, and can we find analogies across different systems? These are just some of the questions we aim to explore. We are particularly interested in studying physical networks, such as rivers or vascular systems, and their branching or looping architectures.
