Although I am a new member in this community the first thing I noticed
is that mailing lists tend to become overcrowded and quickly
unreadable, with great difficulties of searching through content and
finding the right thing. The other thing concerns connections between
community members. There was probably some hot topic ongoing i.e.
three months ago, and new members may be quite unaware of it,
recycling topics previously worked through. And finally there is
always a problem of visual appeal that can turn people away. The thing
is that morphometric analyses are highly visual and prone to
presentation, so maybe there can be a better way of organizing
community pages with emphasis on some interesting modern internet
based approaches. I think Google enables this from many sides,
esspecialy in need of collaboration that can be led through GoogleDoc
features. The forum-like features of GooglePages also enables many
things, but I saw pilot-discussions and maybe there will be piling up
of topics that will over swamp specific ones. That is many posts come
from many users, and that means that morphology and morphometrics are
coming into scientific focus (slowly :)).

The bottom line is that I like this shift to newer technology, and
would like to state that I am willing to help. Besides scientific
endeavours I am tampering with web design and to a limited extent web
programming. So I can offer design-type help for creating CorelDraw/
Photoshop illustrations to liven the place, and creating some group-
specific pages that we can put in Pages section. These pages can be
created using Joomla and all the goodies of sql based dynamism. Of
course many ideas initially come to mind but that is entirely
different from the achieved reality. My good will is here, I would
really like to help.
