Hello Everyone,
I would like to know how to get parameters and conditions to achieve cell balance and proliferation

I mean a balance between cell differentiation and proliferation

Hi Mavis,

thank you for your question which refers to a common regulatory process in stem cell niches. There are multiple biological mechanisms for this regulation and many can be modeled in Morpheus:
1. Asymmetric cell division where one daughter cell retains stemness and the other differentiates. This is used in the model for the intestinal crypt: https://identifiers.org/morpheus/M0026
2. You may restrict CellDivison to a spatial subdomain that can only harbor a maximum number of cells by triggering ChangeCellType outside the subdomain using a Condition with cell.center.x, cell.center.y etc.
3. Your decaying proliferation rate may be an explicit function of time.
4. Proliferating cells may be coupled by a common resource dependence and that may regulate differentiation rate or apoptosis as function of celltype.stem_cell.size
5. The proliferation rate of individual stem cells may be a function of the stem cell number to account for a common resource dependenc. This is demonstrated in a new demo model: https://identifiers.org/morpheus/M8639

When you like to share your final model with our community then please also consider uploading it to the public repo, for help see https://morpheus.gitlab.io/faq/model/submit/

Best,
Lutz
