Hello all!
I'm still planning a visit to Morning Sun...looks like it might be
around and for the sustainability weeks in July/August...hope to meet
some of you then.

A few nuts and bolts questions here! I am interested in making some
financial and time/work commitments to the community, including
possibly residing and later building at MorningSun (which I have
discussed only with Michael at this point but look forward to sharing
with more of you). On that note, I wanted to see if members living at
MorningSun could provide a little more information on the status of
building the road. Has work begun? Or must it wait for permit
completion and more funding? What sort of design and planning work has
been done (including environmental considerations)? I am also
wondering how investment in the road is structured financially for
donors. Perhaps those of you working closely on this could email me,
or perhaps respond here...thanks so much.

Peace,
Aleta

Hi Aleta,

Really hope to see this summer at the sustainability retreat.

We're also really happy to begin membership conversations with you. In case you haven't looked at it, you should read this page that details our current membership process:
http://morningsuncommunity.org/pathways-to-membership/

Our permitting and road-building situation is in a really great place right now. We have submitted our permitting packet and we will have our public hearing on May 21. Getting our permitting will likely take between 1-3 town meetings, so we could be approved between May 21 and the end of June.

Thanks to all of our wonderful investors, we will almost definitely be able to start construction of the road once the town approves our permitting. If you are interested in investing, the way to start is to give me a call at 510.847.6776 to talk about it. The road design was the product of considerable Permaculture design as well as professional engineering.

Once the road is finished, we will be able to begin deeding lots over to new members.

much love from everyone at Morning Sun,
ambrose
